MAINTENANCE TRAINING

Maintenance training can be divided into three major parts:

  1. Maintenance Management Training
  2. Maintenance Operations Training
  3. Maintenance Skills Training

The Hayo Consultants can provide training in Maintenance Management and Maintenance Operations. Other, specialized firms can provide training in Maintenance Skills for the hourly maintenance workforce.

Maintenance Management Training

This Maintenance Training encompasses a wide variety of issues. From setting overall strategy and adhering to 'best practices' to establishing and maintaining an effective organization and relationships, dealing with contractors, overseeing routine maintenance operations, reviewing new technologies for potential application, and reporting and benchmarking performance.

The Hayo Consultants maintenance training seminar: 'Advanced Course in Maintenance Management,' both the public seminar and the in-company tailored version, address these and other topics from the view of the manager, superintendent, or senior supervisor. However, others attending this seminar will gain insight as to items concerning maintenance leadership.

Maintenance Operations Training

This Maintenance Training is concerned with day-to-day operations of the Maintenance organization and others that may be performing maintenance, e.g. Operations. It covers responsibilities of Operations, Maintenance, Stores, Engineering, etc.; planning, estimating, and scheduling for routine and shutdown work; role of the planner/scheduler; CMMS; work order system; preventive, predictive, and reliability maintenance; materials and inventory management; and performance measures and reporting.

The Hayo Consultants seminar: 'Maintenance Planning and Scheduling' public and in-company versions, covers virtually all of these topics with emphasis on details of good planning, estimating, scheduling, execution, and follow up on maintenance work.

For those concerned with materials and inventory management, our seminar: 'Materials, Inventory, and Warehouse Management' should be of great value. Its focus is on providing a high level of customer service with a minimum investment in inventory.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)
ABOUT
MAINTENANCE TRAINING

Question: What maintenance training will help me to increase productivity of my maintenance personnel?
Answer: Training on 'best practices' to use in planning and scheduling of maintenance work and on the importance of the role of the planner/scheduler! Then implement these 'best practices'. Example: Rigorously analyze actual to estimated job times to improve scheduling accuracy and job execution. Improving planning and scheduling will lead to a 20%-50% increase in direct productive work (hands-on-wrench time) for the maintenance workforce.
Question: What maintenance training will help me to reduce the amount of emergency work in our plant?
Answer: Training on how to increase the amount of planned work! This will free up time for more preventive and predictive maintenance work which then results in fewer emergencies.
Question: Where can I read about the details of 'best practices' performance?
Answer: See the Articles and Talks section of this web-site for copies of free articles and talks. They will be E-mailed to you on request.
